Here are some things to do to help the urban environment:
But what are the specific things YOU can do to help the environment at a relatively low cost?
First of all, you can make a rooftop garden. Rooftop gardens help by turning the carbon dioxide in the air as well as water into oxygen. To much carbon dioxide is very harmful to the environment which is what makes these gardens so effective. You can buy solar panels for your house. Solar panels are helpful because they produce energy without creating any harmful byproducts as well as they save money in the long run. Buying an electric car is not necessarily worth it unless you charge it using only solar, wind, or other renewable energy sources. Otherwise, it might be getting its energy from coal or oil plants. Another thing you can do is walk or bike instead of taking a car.
Simply planting and recycling random objects to planters is a small thing to do, but has a big impact on the environment.
Here are trees that were planted by Friends of the Urban Forest. These help the environment because they remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Having Friends of the Urban Forest plant a tree for you is definitely worth it. In the Mission there are so many trees planted. If you live in the Mission, you should definitely consider having a tree planted.
